Simple "trade with" option from chat window
We should be able to open a "trade" window with anybody from the "chat" window. In fact, to encourage people to use the "trade channel" maybe this could only be done from there, and not from the "all channel." Right now, if I see someone selling something I want to buy, I have whisper them and ask where they are, then go run to that area and visibly search through the 57 blue names there to find the person, then click on their name, and click the trade button. Sometimes they are jumping from distict to district spamming in multiple districts, so I have to whisper them multiple times to ask what dis they are in. etc. etc.
How much easier would it be if from the chat window, when we see somone selling something we want to buy, we can click, or double-click, or right-click, or something on their name, and the trade window comes up immediately.
Of course, by far the easiest option would be a auction or trade house...lol...but without that, here is one way to simplify and streamline the trading system.

this would be nice, i would have to say this would be great. also i would like to see the ability to link items in the trade channel, more people would use the trade channel cause linking is soooo muh easier than describing the item.

This would not be the easiest at all. The easiest would be to modify the existing merchant system. Players would sell to general merchants, armorers, and crafters as they do now. The input would then be divided and transfered to the appropriate merchants for resale to the appropriate classes.
In example, a W/Ne comes in with a backpack, beltpouch, and bag and a half of loot. She sells them to Arnaud. They are mystically broken down by the Fetival Faeries, who need gainful employment between festivals, and the various parts are sent their respective ways. Now she finally has that last bit of gold he needs to get what she wants.
She rushes over to the weapons crafter who pulls up a list by tabs and limited to display only what your class can buy. She picks her favorite weapon, a Chaos Axe 15% w/n Stance - reflective of her heroine Molly Hatchet, and dyes it to glow green.

That sounds MUCH more complicated than the original two suggestions...

Lydz,
The OP has an understandable idea. I agree to that much. But it results in an expansion into a non-existing code area. What I am suggesting is a modification of already existing code. People already sell their items to the merchants. The game system already keeps track of what it puts out in the form of gold, purple, blue, and white level items and mods. The merchants already have a tab window system in place.
Player sells armor with rune on it, raw materials from armor goes to materials trader (no big deal) and rune goes to rune trader (no big deal). So far no change. The only change really is with weapons. Base weapon goes to Weapon Crafter for sale unless it is marked for salvage. Any extra in a category bringing the price down below 100g are salvaged for materials trader and rare materials trader to make price 100g minimum. All the mechanics for this are already in the game. It is merely a matter of copping code and splicing.
In addition, if you want to continue the market simply put a "requisite" cap on what a merchant sells in a given area. That will continue to encourage a market of buyers from one region to transport drops and purchases from another and people to buy runs to those areas so they can buy for themselves. More importantly it will grant ANet direct control over the drop ratio to purchasing parity without having to micromanage the market. One can eliminate the obscene costs of 100k plus 3 ecto I am familiar with to buy a weapon.

/signed on OP and Post2, would be extremely nice.
Fitz, your suggestion doesn't make much sense, and sounds stupid (no offense).
/ontopic
would love to be able to trade with people (even if it's only in the trade channel). it would be alot easier then the current method.
or what would be even better is an Auction House.
and Linking of items like the template code would be sweet.

/signed - it would be better than trying to party with the person just to sell.

I'd rather add the option to the Search Party panel, so people use it.

Well, I don't trade with people. It takes too much time. The only thing that usually sells is base materials (wood, iron, feathers, dust) or an inventory clearance at 100g per item.
I see no reason to ever bother with the trade channel. I see no reason why people bother trading ever. All I ever observe on it are scams and outrageous price gouging that inflates the economy beyond what is acceptable and reasonable. I see no reason to go to any of these ridiculous on-line auctions where people sell things for astronomical sums of money that can only have been purchased through e-bay.
What I proposed would make the game playable for the average gamer instead of the elite addict.

This is a great suggestion, especially if they allowed us to put longer descriptions in the Search Party window for items we were wanting to sell.

Both are reasonable ideas.
